The story of stuff

Posted under Be Green

I received an email with a link to this site, The story of stuff. It has a very interesting video clip describing the various stages of how stuff gets to our home. You should take a look if you have some 20 minutes or so to spare. If you don’t really have much time, at least check out the parts on consumption and disposal. I’m pretty sure that watching it will change the way you think about consumerism!

Have a great 2008 ahead!

Christmas special!

Posted under Applemilky

mooncupchristmas.jpgYay! I love Christmas! I love attending family gatherings and seeing everybody having fun together. Oh and eating! Peranakans cook the best food (you can see why I love Christmas!). It’s also a great time for friends to gather over a nice meal to catch up. Christmas is also the time for giving, and I don’t just mean it in a gift-way. What I mean is giving a bit of you life to those who mean something to you. Make some time to spend with your older relatives, or bring them out to do something the enjoy. Help your parents out with Christmas shopping, cook a meal for your loved one, prepare a surprise outing for your kids…. There’s so much you can do with probably means more than a present.

You can do something for the environment too. Instead of sending Christmas cards via post this year, how about sending a digital version instead? Make you own cards rather easily with a couple of nicely taken photos of scenery or friends and use a funky web editing software like picnik to add some embellishments and send it off to your friends.

Here are Applemilky we’re having a Christmas discount on our Mooncups just for you. For the month of December, you can get a Mooncup for just $50! Order two or more (for yourself and your girlfriend?) for just $48 each. Orders must be placed before the end of December 2007. Click here for more information.

Thanks for visiting my site!

Posted under Mooncup

pic.jpgHaving started using a menstrual cup earlier this year, and it has changed my life so much that I couldn’t stop myself from telling everyone about it (ok, mainly girls). Since then, I have embarked on a personal crusade to tell more people about it about it because I believe it can change their lives too. I hope that this website can become a useful resource to many new cup users and that others will share their experiences here as an encouragement.

I became an authorised distributor of the Mooncup because since I was already telling so many people about the cup, I figured I might as well provide the service of importing the cups from overseas for them too. My main motivation for selling the cups is to provide the opportunity for more girls to be liberated from their periods too.

Please read my posts on my first and second encounter with the menstrual cup on my personal blog.

Incidentally, I personally use a Divacup. But after much research, I found that the Mooncup, Divacup and Lunette are almost identical (the Keeper is similar except made from latex). I chose to distribute Mooncup (UK) because I appreciate their company values and ethics. Some people have mentioned that the Mooncup is slightly easier to use, so it’s a no-brainer decision.
